Maggie Jennings has a Master's Degree in Music Education from Western Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education/minor in Spanish from Gardner-Webb University.
She has nine years teaching experience and has taught private voice and piano since 2004. Prior to her tenure with Swain County Schools, she helped direct the Concert Choir at Western Carolina University while working as Graduate Assistant to the nationally acclaimed choral director Dr. Robert A. Holquist and taught Aural Skills under the direction of Dr. Terri Armfield. She is currently a candidate for National Board Teaching Certification.
Her performance experience is vast. Jennings was the featured soloist in WCU's 2011 performance of Poulenc's Gloria as well as GWU's 2005 performance of the same work. She has performed roles in Cinderella and The Sound of Music, and studied voice under Patricia Harrelson. Her directorship includes You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Little Shop of Horrors, Annie, and Once Upon a Mattress.
Jennings is a native of Charleston, SC and enjoys spending her free time with her son and husband in Sylva, NC. She is excited to work with Swain County Schools to provide the best opportunities in vocal music and theatre education possible.
